The first of many overdue updates!

Oh where to begin......so much has happened since I last updated our blog. Allie is now almost 6 1/2 months old! She is a beautiful blonde hair blue eyed baby and is the highlight of our lives and we are so blessed to have her in our family.

She has been developing so fast, Brad and I are always pointing out new things that she is doing. At her 4 month appointment she was 23 3/4 inches and 14 lbs 9 ounces. We filled out a short questionnaire on her development before the doctor came in and was told that developmentally she is around 6 1/2 months. When the doctor was cleaning out her ears she was screaming and reached up and grab his glasses off of his face, the doctor replied that most 4 month olds couldn't do that! So needless to say she keeps us on our toes.

Allie is now talking quite often and smiling constantly. We have been so lucky with how good of baby she has been. We can get her laughing pretty good now too, which is one of the best sounds I have ever heard! She is eating baby foods and foods off of our plates as well, we started her on rice cereal around 4 months, she now loves oatmeal right before bed and loves her fruits! We haven't fed her anything that she doesn't like so we are keeping our fingers crossed that that will continue.

She is lunging and reaching for everything in sight, she is defiantly a curious one. She is rolling with no problem and started to army crawl around 5 months and since then has mastered pushing herself backwards. I think that she might walk before she crawls, she loves standing up and if you hold both of her hands she will walk all around the house.

A week ago she started waking up every hour during the night screaming which is not like her at all, when she usually would wake up during the night she wouldn't scream at all. So after three nights of no sleep for the three of us we took her to the doctor. The morning of the doctor appointment she had gotten her first bottom tooth, the doctor proceeded to tell us that she had a double ear infection. The doctor said that she had only had it for a day or two so she should start feeling better within a couple of days of being on her medicine. She has now been on the amoxicillin for 5 days and since then has gotten her second tooth on the bottom. Poor thing is fighting a double ear infection, teething, and a cold that she can't get rid of all at the same time, and she still is a pretty happy baby!

She did succeed in rubbing a huge bald spot on the back of her head when she was younger, I mean this bald spot was almost from ear to ear. I am now happy to report that she is finally growing hair on the back of her head! Her hair on top of her head is pretty long now, we have to put it in a pony tail or a hair clip so her hair isn't in her eyes. She loves her baths and gets really excited when she hears water running, we can't wait for summer so we can take her swimming!

Here are some pictures from the last few months:

Allie's First Bath

3 Long Days

So my wonderful husband got the blog up and going and now it is up to me to keep it updated. I will do my best but am not promising anything!

On July 22nd I went into the doctor to get tests done to make sure the baby was moving enough and also to make sure that there was still enough fluid. My due date was on the 25th and they wanted to make sure all was well to let me go over my due date, which I wasn't too excited about! The baby was moving a lot and my fluid was good and so I was prepared to go over my due date because up until that point I hadn't had any contractions that were hurting me. While the doctor was checking to see how far I was dilated he finished saying that he "stirred things up a little bit to get things going." I have come to conclude that he stripped my membranes at that point which was not very comfortable to say the least. He sent us home with the reassuring words of "I'm sure I will see you next week for your appointment." Which would have put me four days over my due date.

Friday night I started getting contractions that were much more painful and although I knew they weren't close enough to go to the hospital they were close enough together and painful enough to keep me up all night. So we went through Saturday waiting for the contractions to get closer and more painful. By Saturday evening the contractions were about 6-10 minutes apart and were hurting, so we decided to go in to the hospital. Well as most of you can guess I was sent home because I was still dilated to a one and about 50% effaced. So we came home and I prepared myself for yet another sleepless night. As 5:00 am rolled around my contractions were about 5 minutes apart so I decided that it was time to go into the hospital again so I went and woke Brad up and after him showering and eating breakfast we were off to the hospital.

When we arrived I still hadn't made much progress as I was now a small 2, how frustrating! The on call doctor came in to check me after we had walked the halls for a couple of hours and he chose to break my water. The rest of the day was spent walking halls, bouncing on the excercise ball, and lying in bed breathing through each contraction. As 5:00 pm rolls around I am barely at 3 centimeters and 80% effaced. They started me on potossum and 45 minutes later I received my wonderful epidural, 30 minutes later the nurse checked me and I was at a 7! The doctor came in around 6:30 and said that it is time to push, I thought he was just saying that to be mean (that is the type of guy that he was) but after being reassured by the nurses, it was indeed time to push.

For the next two hours I was pushing with a nurse on each leg. Brad had to sit down so he wouldn't pass out, after they poked me four times for my IV he got a little light headed. Getting Allie pass my pelvic bone seemed to be the most difficult and when she finally graced us with her presence it was clear why. The umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck twice and the doctor said that the cord kept on pulling her back in after I was done pushing.

But Allie Kay Terry made her debut Sunday July 25th at 8:40 pm weighing 7lb12oz and 22inches.

NEW ADDITION

Well after 9 long but wonderful month Allie finally decided to leave the comfort of her mother's womb and grace us with her presence. She was born 7 pounds 12 ounces and 22 inches long and sucking her thumb in almost her first breathe of life.
